*New Release* Strawbridge 2022 Barossa Valley Shiraz
*New Release* Strawbridge 2022 Barossa Valley Shiraz
On the palate, this wine is rich and velvety with flavours of wild blackberries and smoky biscuit dough. The tannins are broad, ripe and generous, yet the finish is fresh, lingering and leaves the impression of dark chocolate and rhubarb compote.
Grapes for this Shiraz are sourced from our growers in the Barossa Valley. The well-ripened grapes are carefully de-stemmed and crushed to fermenters where they are macerated in a way to minimise extraction of hard tannins. All providing a rich and generous nose and mouthfeel. This is achieved with less vigorous maceration and lower fermentation temperatures.
Enjoy with a thick rib-eye steak and roasted veggies. Drink now to 2038.

Wonderfully ripe and fragrant, the bouquet shows black/blueberry, warm spice, rich floral and cedar characters. The palate displays excellent concentration and plush mouthfeel, splendidly framed by fine, chalky tannins. Beautifully structured and harmonious with a sustained, delectable finish. At its best: now to 2039.

A really impressive Barossa Shiraz. An opaque purple, this is dense and yet it is packed with flavour. We have notes of mocha, chocolate, spices, coffee beans, plums, black cherries and leather. A generous style, there is gentle acidity running the length and a soft touch of oak, rather like a lovely choccy biscuit. A decadent texture, sleek tannins and serious length, this is a cracker and will remain so for the next eight to ten years.

Rich Christmas pudding, chocolate raisins and brambleberry jam with hints of clove, cedar, black pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla. These are typical aromas associated with a dense, ripe, dark chocolate mocha Shiraz.

Considered to be one of the better Barossa vintages. Consistent autumnal rain, paired with decent rainfall at the end of spring leads to optimal soil moisture throughout the summer. Cooler summer temperatures contributed to vine health and perfectly set bunches.

The Strawbridge Story
While William Patrick Auld had a famous affinity with his horse Wilberforce, the trusty steed was, naturally, no match for the articulate Eliza Strawbridge. The pair fell in love while WP was working with Eliza’s father at the surveyor general’s office in Adelaide and were married at the magnificent
Auldana homestead on November 15, 1866. While WP was a rugged explorer and a passionate wine man, Eliza developed a love of poetry and spent her spare time writing with her mother. Like Eliza, the Strawbridge range boasts a certain level of eloquence, an accomplished wine that carries itself with poise and grace.
Gathering clusters whence ruby streams Will flow before close of day, Ripened and tinged by the sun’s bright gleams Into purple and gold array; Through groves of vine we, laughing come, Gathering fruit for the ‘vintage home’.
- Eliza Harland Auld
